EPHS BETA CLUB MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

EPHS Beta Club Membership requirements
1. GPA = 85 (not rounded) and on/above grade level = invitation
2. Three teacher recommendations.
3. Attend one meeting in September or October
4. Participate (2 hours) in the induction service project
5. Pay national dues (first joining) OR local dues (if rejoining club)
6. Participate in Induction Ceremony

Continuing membership requirements
1. $3 annual dues by November meeting. $6 by January 31st. $10 after January.
2. Attend one meeting per semester.
3. Participate in one club service project (2 hours) each semester.
4. Participate in one fundraiser each year.
5. Maintain an 85 GPA and be on or above grade level.

Active membership: In addition to continuing membership requirements: 36 points per year since original invitation.
Points are earned as follows:
Meetings: 1 point each. Regular monthly meeting OR make-up meeting in a given month.
Club fundraisers: 1 point for every $10 sales (First $20 in sales must be as club fundraiser. For every $10 in continued sales, you may choose $5 convention credit or 1 point.)
Committee work: 1 point per committee
Attend Beta convention: 6 points
Compete at Beta convention: 1 point
Attend Beta Leadership Academy: 6 points
Club service projects: 2 points/hour
Other service projects: 1 point/hour. Maximum 10 points per semester.
a) Required: Letter (preferably on letterhead stationary) DESCRIBING the community service performed by the member. Letter must include the name of the community organization, the address and phone number of sponsoring adult, the nature of the service performed, and the number of hours. It is the member’s responsibility to make sure that the required information is included in the letter. (You may want to write this letter yourself and have the sponsoring adult sign and date it.)
b) Email and faxes to the school will NOT be accepted.
c) Members must personally bring their letters to their class sponsor. Fall semester letters are accepted during January. Spring semester letters are accepted in March for seniors and April for juniors and sophomores.
